In an effort to play catch up, I am ignoring my dirty house and instead assembling collage photos for the ol' blog. Well...here goes the end of Feb and most of March:
Here are the pics from Katy's haircut. My family seems to think that the anesthesia from her surgery is what caused her hair to fall out. Who knows...let's just hope we don't need a follow-up surgery to tigthen the muscles in her eye. For now we're just patching 4 or 5 hours each day....except holidays and weekends.
Mom retired from her 18 years of service for our local university. Wahoo! She is worn out but I have loved knowing that she's just around the corner. We haven't abused her for babysitting too much...yet. There was a big party for her at the office which Sarah, Amy & Uncle John all drove in for, plus a nice weekend of hanging out at Mom's house. Sarah & Amy applied some makeup for Katy and now she won't stop asking for it. Mom has already helped me clean out some of my closets that were in desperate shape, so I'm a happy camper.
Katy, Allen and I all went to Laura's and Mike's for Emily's fifth birthday party weekend extravaganza. It was awesome and the cousins all loved hanging out together. Peter stayed home to work. The day after we got home Katy went to The Bounce for the first time and sailed down 15 to 20 foot slides. After a particularly rough landing, she went up the ladder and then wouldn't come down. One of the workers had to slide down with Katy in front of her. We are so glad that Natalie invited us to her birthday party!
Dance class is still going strong. Allen absolutely loves going!! He sits perfectly still in my lap and listens to the music and watches all the ballerinas flutter around the room. Really they just squat on the floor until the teacher makes them stand up and move, but I can dream.
I did have a birthday this month but what can I say about turning 34? Yuck. Not old enough to really make a big deal, but just old enough to feel old. Peter made a birthday cake for me with all kinds of egg shells in it...pretty hilarious! I returned the favor by making him a cookie with half an egg shell sticking out of the top - baked in! Yum!
I did have help with that nasty egg cookie...from Kathy G and Amy F!!! WAHOO!! Kathy decided to have an impromptu thawing-out in the great state of Texas! Katy, Allen and I drove up near Dallas to hang out with them at Amy's home, and then we all came home to go to the Easter Egg Hunt at the local presidential library. As always, Mom joined us, too even though we didn't invite her until 7:30 that morning. Katy now asks to go "egg catching". Kathy's visit was just the medicine that I needed!
Later that night Peter and I drove the kids to Houston for the Brad Paisley performance at the rodeo. Jason was kind enough to babysit our kids plus Laura's Abby. Parking was awful so we rode the train and barely made it in time. It's an annual gift from Dad that we love to do. Jason may not agree to babysit next year, however. The kids gave him a pretty rough time. He seems to have recovered, but I can't wait to see him with his own kids.
We are really missing Warren and Marjean since Marjean had knee surgery last week. She's slowly but surely improving and will need more physical therapy, but I can't wait to drop the kids off again. Errands are so much easier without rug rats hanging on...even if you love them more than life itself.
I don't have time to blog about Easter weekend so hopefully I can get to that soon.
